Presents from Italy

My Mother came back from Italy recently, and bought me two beautiful presents. You're just like Venus Mum! You are the goddess of love in our family, a strong mother with a heart from which we are born.

The first one was a notebook with a Botticelli painting on the leather cover. Botticelli was painting Venus, who was the Roman goddess of love. She was based on the Greek goddess Aphrodite.

Aphrodite was the most beautiful of all the goddesses. She was also a jealous woman. Everyone started falling in love with Psyche, the goddess of the spirit and breath. She sent Cupid to break it up. But he fell in love with her too. After many trials they were married it was a wedding between the spirit and the body.

Venus' son Cupid is is also a symbol of Valentine' Day. I think Valentine's Day should be a national holiday. Everybody needs love. Thats why people have to vote for love too! We should speak to the law about Aphrodite, about the spirit of beauty, and importance of glamour to women out there too. Whose with me!? Its also important to me that people with disabilities should be able to get married to the people that they choose as well. Thats also why we vote for marriage too, like in the Parent Trap. It should be a day to remind us of that and celebrate love in our lives. They started celebrating Valentines Day when it was illegal for Christians to get married in Rome. Saint Valentine was a Christian who was marrying people in secret.

I have the book Letters to Juliette with all the love stories of people who have put their love letters in Juliette's wall in Verona. Shakespeare is also poetic symbol of love. Like Venus too. In Enchanted the lawyer character, Robert is talking love too.

There are poems about the birth of Venus by Homer and by Shelly. I love the poem of Shelly about The Birth of Aphrodite. Its about worshipping women, their goodness and softness. It talks about Aphrodite being born from the water with soft blue eyes like heaven. I would like to be Emma goddess of love!
