I've got the box set of Bewitched. Its a series with a lot of episodes. Its very funny. Its a sitcom, and a fantasy too. Exactly the same as I dream of Jeanie, it has a magical character who is trying to fit in with a mortal world.

Elizabeth Montgomery, the witch, is my favourite character. Her mother, Endora, is not impressed that she has married a mortal, who, after realising she was a witch tried to stop her from using her magic powers. Endora, brings along George to break up their relationship. He a suspicious character. Elizabeth has a sister too, Serena, who is a bit of a naive hippy, which gets on Elizabeth's nerves.

"What's a hippy, I want to know more about that. It means people who believe in peace and love and want to live differently to normal suburban life."

The actress Elizabeth Montgomery played both roles. Changing her appearance and personality. As Serena she approves of Elizabeth's mixed marriage, even though she thinks Elizabeth is a bit square, not so adventurous as Serena. The witches council is against mixed marriages. They are the group that govern or make laws for the behaviour of witches. Elizabeths' father is a Warlock called Maurice who quotes Shakespeare and has his own kind of style, he's a suave member of a secret Warlocks' club.

In one episode of Bewitched George is on a date with a mortal girl, "Danger O'Riley". He tells her he is a Warlock. She's not sure what a Warlock is, so she looks it up in the dictionary in the kitchen. It says. "A deceiver, a breaker of his word. A name for the devil. A male witch." George adds: "a monster, malicious, a demon." But he is not all bad, his powers are mainly to do with lighting cigarettes, and he still loves Samantha. Although sometimes women have been attacked for being "witches" witches are not all bad either, and have also been seen as healers and folk magicians.

In Bewitched Samantha has a daughter Tabatha who is also a witch. She was born with magical powers, like her mother, although Darin hoped she would be mortal. Her grandparents were proud of her though, and happy she turned out right. Sometimes I believe in good witches, though I know that good and evil travel together.

Witchcraft of Romance By Emma Brodie with Anna I want to know about witches and history. Benjamin knows a lot about that. I just want to know. Anna: "Well, witches started off by being wise older women -" Emma: "Older? Not younger women ?" "No, they can't be younger women because you need many years of experience -" " - of love and romance - and some people need to learn of that for histories-" "Yes and of other things as well -" "Really? What things? "The wise women knew how to survive life more than other people of those times. They knew herbs and medicines. Before there was science not many people had medicines-" "To make them better?" "That's right. Herbs have natural medicines in them -" " - and poison." "Yes, all kinds of chemicals that can help or not help, they can do both -" "In the couldron. What's that word." "Maybe a big giant pit of the herbal mixtures they made people -" "To fall in love of romance and love potions? I have a picture of that." "Sometimes. The wise women knew that if you suggested that somebody has a special potion, then they would probably think it would work ..." "Really? Of Relationships?" "Well some people who wanted the relationship, they believed it would work." "Would a jealousy potion make us green?" "Probably not but strange things do happen when you believe something strongly enough." "Enough is powerful." "Indeed it is." "Pretty special." "Yes and the wise women became known as witches when things went wrong in childbirth. The wise women helped and they used to be midwives -" "Just like in fairytales." "Yes and when they helped at births, sadly sometimes things would go wrong and they would be blamed." "I'm scared of that, I'm scared of being blamed." "People blame other people when they are frightened and don't understand what's going on. There was Not much science then and they didn't have the knowledge -" "What's knowledge?" "Things we now know are true. Facts like, if you want to get sick with tummy bugs you have to wash your hands. So they blamed the midwives when things went wrong. So they called them witches and tried to burn them-" "On a stick." "Stake."
