A hundred years ago today my Great Grandfather Henry Scales died in the battle of Villers Court. It was March 20th 1917. This morning my Dad was on the news on channel Seven. He was visiting in Villers-Bretonneux with my Mum as well. I loved them on T.V.. One day I would like to go and visit that grave together with my Dad and Mum in France, even though I've never met Henry. He died three generations before I was born. But his daughter is my Dad's Mum. On the news my Dad was talking about his Grandfather whose grave was unmarked there, but his name is on the wall of remembrance.

This evening my Dad and Mum were both on the evening news where my Dad was saying that he wouldn't be here if it wasn't for my Great Grandfather, I wouldn't either. I could see his true feelings about the ANZACs. It was the dawn service so my Mum was all rugged up. It was very cold. They sky was still dark before the dawn in the graveyard.

The memories are valuable. And the people who fought in the war are getting old. I like the flowers that are used for remembrance too. I'm a nature person, just quietly. Rosemary is a traditional sign of ANZAC day. They wear it like a broach. Because it grew in the fields at Gallipoli and because of its healing properties. They also use poppies that grew on Flanders' field to commemorate the day.

ANZAC day is very important to my family. My Great Grandfather was given medals for his service, so was my Dad's uncle, my Dad, and my brother was also in the army. Which is four generations of people in my family who have been to war. It is an important day for us.

I'm a pacifist though, which means somebody who believes in peace. I'm very sensitive to emotions. And I'm a little bit worried about the world these days. Even though I was born in America, I'm not a fan of Trump, I'm still upset that Hilary didn't win the election. I'm hoping this ANZAC day that he doesn't start another war.

I'm so proud of my Dad, if I was voting today, I would vote for him. And my Mum too.
