The whole family is going to Cleopatra, the outdoor production in the park, before new years. I'm taking my book with me, The Complete Works of William Shakespeare. I won that book went to see the Summer Nights Dream at the same place last year. I've got a poem about it called Winning the Complete Works of Shakespeare. I want to do another poem about the play of Anthony and Cleopatra, I don't know what happened in that story yet, but you can tell me more about it later, or I'll find out when I see the play.
Do we have a lot of Cleopatras in Australia? Women of her type.
She was a powerful ruler. And the last Pharaoh, which means the last queen of Egypt. Its such a big part of history, because of all the different stories from religious groups that were in Egypt at that time.
In Night At the Museum Ben Stiller says about how the Jewish people weren't happy there as slaves. The Pharaoh said to him, he thought they were very happy singing with the candles all the time. Ben Stiller says he's pretty sure they weren't because they went into the desert for Egypt to escape, and were there for forty years, and they get together once a year to talk about it. Moses was the one who led the Egyptians when they ran away from Egypt. When he was born the Pharaoh had all male babies killed, in prince of Egypt some of them are even fed to the crocodiles. His Mum sacrificed her own happiness, and raising her child, to keep him safe.
In this film there is also a tablet that has the powers bring things in the museum back to life. Its very great, and powerful. In real life there was also the tablet of the Rosetta Stone, that is a real life key to bringing ancient languages back to life. It is at the British museum.
Winning the Complete Works of William Shakespeare
By Emma Brodie
With my golden ticket, I won the book
I'm just kidding - the ticket wasn't golden but
I won it in a raffle at Bella Vista Farm
Where they did plays outside in the sunlight
It was a competition for charity, to help all the babies and poor people
I won the Complete Works of William Shakespeare
When I was watching A midsummer Night's Dream
It was so good, so much sexiness in it -
Not too much touching involved and we won't go there -
But it's romantic - romantic history, which means
Shakespeare wrote it, a great British playwright
I saw A Midsummer Night's Dream and Romeo and Juliet
Now I have the book of all the words -
The Complete Works of William Shakespeare
I want to know who his wife is though. Who is she?
Because I want to know about his love life -
Not too personal is it? It's not too private.
Anna says she is called Anne Hathaway
It's not too private because they have been dead for 400 years.
Anne Hathaway - she was much deeply beautiful, was she?
Deeply and passionate?
We don't know, Anna says, because there are no photos of her
Maybe we can find out in the Internet
Shakespeare's wife is called Anne Hathaway
The most pretty lady of the queen
Though she doesn't have Crown Jewels yet
She has beautiful skin and lace collar and cuffs
And they were very rich from Anne's father's money
Then Shakespeare earned. Lot of money from his plays
They lived in a big mansion in Stratford-on- Avon
The big church there is called Trinity Church yard
It has beautiful graves, very old like the Adams family
Not exactly the same but a little bit like it, just a bit
Old gravestones with green mouldy stuff on it
There are spirits there, the waking of the dead,
Peace and prayers of churches and religions
They don't have religions of Shakespeare, which is a shame
Because of his stories of history, Henry V and Richard III
And their wives, Catherine of Valois
Her image on Google is really creepy
Because it's from when she was dead and the people took an image
A deaths mask - that's not going to happen to us is it.
Anna says it is definitely not going to happen
It's a custom that most people in Australia do ever
(Because people don't believe in religions at all, like my Dad
I do love my Dad anyway because of that -
I just want to know why. But that's another poem for you Dad
I'm sorry to say it - but I just want to know what these things are
In my heart - I'm not that sensitive or judgemental
I'm still your daughter who cares about you and that's blessing
Which means I wish very good things to you Dad!
This book helps to guide me, teaching me of real poems
Of Shakespeare and helps me to think about lots of things
Kisses for this beautiful book, gold leaf figured which means
It's rich, old and classic, magical because it's got secrets of life
And gossip and old wise words
Of Shakespeare and his wife Anne Hathaway and their children
