The house was exquisite. It was designed by the royal architect in 1835. Its full of portraits, of Queen Victoria and other Governors who have lived in the house. In 1843 they had a big ball there to celebrate Queen Victoria's birthday. I imagine they would have wonderful gowns at the ball, I would love to see that. And all the men would have been dashing. The governor represents the Queen in NSW but most of the time he spends with community groups, like Bus Stop Films. I think its a good thing that he uses his power to help people like me feel as valuable as the Queen's jewls, together with his wife Mrs Linda Hurley. I love the gardens. The fountains were designed by William Wardell from Tasmanian sandstone. They have memorial statues to men who died in the Great War. Its very sad what they and their families lost. The house is also in the Royal Botanic Gardens, where there are lots of beautiful kinds of plants.
